Embraceable You
Serving as a through line for NW Dance Project’s company choreographed Billie Holiday inspired performance, “Embraceable You” follows two lost souls who are searching for true love in a jazz club throughout the night. Filled with fantasy, missed connections, and awkward first date moments, this work “reminisces about the old-fashioned kind of love that older generations speak of and younger folk (tirelessly swiping left or right on screens in a two-second judgement of someone) can’t possibly imagine.” (Elizabeth Whelan, OR Arts Watch)
“[T]he most adorable storyline of the night, tugged on my hopeless romantic heartstrings as these two adorable lonely souls find each other, and danced so beautifully together that it truly re-anchored the show into what it started out as: beautiful movement gliding and flowing around the stage while Billie Holiday croons on all around them. This section, was, in a word, lovely.”

“Embraceable You brings with it a solo that moves like ribbons in a gentle breeze.”
